1. Overview
Grocaddy ("we", "our", or "the app") is a grocery list and purchase history manager. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, by whom, and how it is used.
2. Data We Collect
Grocaddy itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers. All shopping lists, purchase history, and app settings are stored locally on your device only.
3. Third-Party SDKs That May Collect Data
3a. Google AdMob (Advertising)
Grocaddy displays ads powered by Google AdMob. Google may collect the following information to serve and measure ads:
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
- App interaction data (ad impressions, clicks)
- Approximate location derived from IP address
On iOS, we request your permission before allowing any tracking (see Section 5). You may opt out at any time through your device settings.

3b. Contacts (Optional)
If you choose to share a shopping list via SMS, Grocaddy may request access to your device's contact list to help you select a recipient. Contact data is used only to populate the recipient field and is never uploaded, stored remotely, or shared with any third party.
4. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and never leaves your device:
- Shopping list items (name, store, quantity, note)
- Purchase history
- Share recipient history (phone numbers and names)
- App language preference
- Saved store names and item name suggestions
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.
5. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS 14.5 and later, Grocaddy will ask for your permission to track your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies. This permission is used solely by Google AdMob to serve personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your activity across other apps.
You can change this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Children's Privacy
Grocaddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Opt out of personalized ads (iOS): Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable Grocaddy
- Opt out of personalized ads (Android): Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
- Revoke contacts permission: Settings → Grocaddy → Contacts → disable
- Delete all app data: Uninstall the app
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
